One of Roger’s Border Collies, Di has been suffering for quite a while with considerable lack of mobility in the hind quarters, frequently lame to the point of not putting the foot down but carrying it stiffly. The osteopath suggested Rhus Tox and Glucosamine which didn’t result in much improvement.
When we were at the Glee trade exhibition in September, a stand nearby was selling bio-magnetic collars which we looked at for several days. To cut a long story short, Di has been wearing one now for a month and the result is quite amazing. She now charges out of the van up into the field with the others and soon gets down to some really serious ‘moling’(digging massive holes in the field which fortunately is permanent set aside). The difference is that we now have a dog approaching 10 years of age that can enjoy her remaining years. She still has Glucosamine but only at maintenance levels that is contained in her Fromm Senior Gold or Eagle Pack Senior Care, depending on which one Roger has managed to damage with the forklift lately!
These collars may help relieve hip displasia, arthritic pain, joint and back pain, improving blood circulation in a natural form of healing. I am always highly sceptical of things like this,
but I have to confess that the bio-magnetic bracelet (that I have been wearing for the same length of time as Di with her collar) seems to have coincided with alack of pain that normally goes with my tennis elbow.I can appreciate that these things are often in the mind, but I don’t think that Di understands any of the psychological background!
The collars look like a conventional one with a buckle and holes. The small magnets, between 5 and 7, are stitched into the collar so there is not just one large magnet strapped to the top looking rather cumbersome.
